British Values

Promoting British Values at JFC Training College

The Government set out its definition of British values in the Prevent Strategy.  At JFC these values are reinforced regularly and in the following ways:

At JFC we are dedicated to promoting values which support our students to develop a strong sense of social and moral responsibility.

We prepare our students for life in modern Britain by developing an understanding of:

Democracy

How we can influence decision making through democratic processes such as the national electoral system, local elections or our own Students’ Union elections.

The Rule of Law

We are law abiding citizens and we are all accountable to the laws of society.

Individual Liberty

We understand and exercise our human rights in a safe environment. Students are supported and encouraged to make informed choices about their future progression pathways.

Mutual Respect and Acceptance

We promote the importance of mutual respect through our shared ‘Acceptable Standards’ of behaviour in and around the College; we actively promote diversity and accept that people have different faiths or beliefs.

The Group’s embedding of fundamental British values is promoted and reinforced through our:

  • Acceptable Standards
  • Progression Passport
  • Group Values of Excellence, Respect, Innovate, Celebrate
  • Student Voice
  • Student Engagement Policy
  • Student Induction
  • Single Equality Scheme Action Plan
  • Prevent training
  • Safe at College campaigns
  • Website and college prospectuses

Tolerance of those of Different Faiths and Beliefs

JFC is a diverse college. We actively promote diversity through our celebrations of different faiths and cultures. Members of different faiths and religions are encouraged to share their knowledge to enhance learning within classes and the college.
